When disaster strikes, it often comes without warning and leaves behind a path of destruction. The recent string of tornadoes that have devastated the Midwest and the South have not only left behind a path of destruction, but have left nearly 40 people dead, thousands homeless and without power.
Besides this, a teenager recently walked into an Ohio school and shot five people, killing three of them who were fellow students. These recent disasters and tragedies will no doubt cause many to suffer psychological and emotional problems. Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims and their families.
If you are a victim of this tragedy or of this natural disaster, or if you are someone who has lost a family member or a friend in such a tragedy, you may be going through great pain and suffering as a result of this tragedy. You may be asking yourself some questions like, Why did this happen? Where can I turn for help? Does anyone care?
You may never understand why such a tragedy happened. But you can be assured that help and hope is on the way.
There are thousands of people across our nation and around the world who care. The people who are providing medical aid, food, and shelter do care. And people who are helping financially care. Many people are praying for you and the other victims of these tragedies.
MORE IMPORTANTLY, GOD CARES!
The Bible tells you in 1 Peter 5:7, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” Whatever your burden may be at this hour, will you not let God bear it? God cares about you. In fact, He loves you very much.
The Bible says that God loves us so much that He sent His One and only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for your sins. He was raised from the dead three days later and now offers you the gift of everlasting life if you believe in Him. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
GOD IS REACHING OUT TO YOU
God is reaching out to you at this moment. He will give you strength and grace to meet each new day with its trials and burdens. Will you cast your burden on God and let Him take care of you for your present needs? If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Saviour, allow me to show you how:
As John 3:16 says above, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
“For God so loved the world” means that if you are in the world, God loves you. No matter who you are, where you are, or what you have done, God loves you.
God loves you more than you love yourself. He loves you so much so “that He gave His only begotten Son.” His only begotten son is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and for mine, He was buried, and on the third day, He rose from the dead.
“that whosoever believeth in Him”, whosoever means anybody of any race, any color, any belief system, or any socio-economic status can believe on Jesus Christ.
“should not perish, but have everlasting life.” if you believe on Jesus Christ as your Saviour, you will not perish in hell, instead you will have everlasting life in heaven with God.
The Bible also says in Romans 10:9 and 13: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Dear friend, if you are willing to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, please pray with me this simple prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.
Congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour!
