So, What Are You Searching for On the Internet Late at Night?

Recently, the internet search giant Google released data on what Americans are up searching for late at night. Perhaps surprising to some and shocking to others, the most popular search terms for late night internet users revolve around pornography, suicide, and loneliness. Another interesting search trend is that people who are up very early — between the hours of 2 and 4 am — are searching for answers to big questions such as: What is the meaning of life? Is there a God? What is the meaning of consciousness? Does free will exist? And is there life on other planets?

This interesting data sheds light on the psyche of our nation. It also sheds light on a common human activity: at some point in life, everybody finds himself or herself searching for something and/or asking the big questions of life. When we are young, we search for meaning and purpose. We search for the perfect job or the right occupation that will make us feel fulfilled. We search for a husband or wife to spend our lives with. We search for the best college or university to attend. We search for advice that will help us live a healthy and long life.

Ultimately, we are all searching for something that we can rely on, something that’s constant, and something that will guide us through life. I can honestly tell you that all of those things can be found in Jesus Christ.

In the words of Andrae Crouch, Jesus Christ “is the answer for the world today.” Not only is He the Saviour of the world, He is a faithful friend. For those who are lonely, He is Someone you can depend on and trust. The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:7 that we should ‘cast all our care upon him because he cares for us.’ Isaiah 26:4 says “Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.” You can rely on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is constant. He does not change. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ [is] the same yesterday, to day, and for ever.” Jesus Christ is not like a human friend who may be there for you one day and gone the next. Jesus Christ will stick with you in any situation you face.

Jesus Christ will guide you through life. He said in John 14:6: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” The Bible likens Him to a Great Shepherd; He will care for you and will steer you away from danger. He will always tell you what is best to do in any situation because he truly cares for you and has your best interest at heart.

Are you ready to stop searching? Are you ready to give your life to Jesus Christ so that you can have someone to rely on, someone to depend on, someone who will guide you throughout your life, and end your search and answer all your questions? There is a simple way you can invite Jesus Christ into your heart so He can be all of these things to you and so much more. Let me tell you how.

First, recognize that your sins have separated you from God. Our sins are the bad or wrong things that we do. Everyone in the world has sinned. The Bible says, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” In honest repentance, agree with God about your sinfulness and admit your need for forgiveness. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he [God] is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Second, realize that God loves you, and believe that his sinless Son, Jesus Christ, died for your sins — taking the punishment that you deserve. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Romans 5:8 says, “God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Because of Jesus Christ’s sacrificial death on the cross, we do not have to suffer eternal death and punishment in Hell.

Third, accept Jesus Christ’s invitation to Heaven by receiving Him by faith as your Savior from sin’s consequences. Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins and for Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and please give me the power of your Holy Spirit to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you just trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, and you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, I declare to you that based upon the Word of God, you are now saved from Hell and you are on your way to Heaven. Welcome to the family of God! Congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is trusting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
